1. Once logged in to the LINK platform, you will be able to view your available plans in the member dashboard. For a plan with outstanding onboarding steps, use the "Go to the next step" button to enter the onboarding process.
2. At the start of plan onboarding, a brief overview is displayed.
3. Information about your Plan Sponsor and Administrator is then displayed for review.
4. The next section displays your Participant Information. You can update the information on this page, or fill in any missing information. Once all required information is completed, you will be able to advance to the next page. If you have indicated “Married”, “Common-Law” or “Civil Union”, you will be asked to provide some information regarding your spouse.
5. Enter any necessary Beneficiary Information in this section. Add details for as many beneficiaries as desired and save. Use the "Populate with spouse information" button to quickly insert spouse details that were entered on the previous page.
6. After saving, review the Beneficiary details and allocations that are displayed, and continue to edit if necessary.
7. If you name an underage child as beneficiary, or require a Trustee for any of your stated beneficiaries, add a Trustee by completing the screen below. Otherwise, continue on if you do not wish to appoint a Trustee.
8. Download the Beneficiary Form to print, sign and return the required documentation to your plan administrator.
After downloading the form, use the "Continue Application" button to advance to the next step.
9. On the Plan Contribution screen, you can review and update your contribution amounts if you wish. Complete this section once you are satisfied with the amounts selected.
10. Review and sign off all documents as shown by using the "Agree" button. Download the document, if you would like to save a copy to your computer.
Use the "Continue" button to advance when all agreements are complete.
11. The next steps will determine the type of portfolio you are invested in. Some plan types offer a choice between a customized portfolio which requires completion of a questionnaire, and a default target date fund which is based on the expected year of retirement.
12. For the customized portfolio, you will be asked a series of questions to determine an appropriate asset allocation for your portfolio (list of the questions are below).
Choose your option for each and advance through the questions by selecting "Next".
13. Based on your questionnaire results, your customized portfolio is created based on your risk tolerance, time horizon and investment objectives for this account. If you are satisfied with your portfolio, use the "Continue" button to move to the next step in the onboarding process.
14. At this point, you have the option to connect with a Link Advisor about your selection. Use the "Continue" button if you would like to bypass the support team.
Note: However, if this page indicates you need to speak with a Link Advisor, it means there are some inconsistencies with your answers as it relates to your risk tolerance and return expectations. A Link Advisor will need to have a conversation with you before you can continue.
15. View the finalized application form and confirm the agreement. You may download a copy to your computer if you wish.
16. You have successfully onboarded to the plan! You will be taken to an updated version of the member dashboard showing new details for the now-active plan, which will update as contributions begin to flow in.
